The Federal Ministry for Labour and Social Affairs is promoting the vocational mobility of young EU citizens in the European labour market. The purpose of this special programme is to contribute to a reduction in youth unemployment in Europe and to obtain and secure skilled workers in Germany. For this purpose, by means of targeted promotion it is intended that young EU citizens between the ages of 18 and 27 will be given the opportunity to leave their home country and move to Germany to successfully complete in-company vocational training. 

The projects to be promoted are those which by means of measures that prepare for or assist vocational training enable young adults who are entitled to freedom of movement (hereafter referred to as ‘participants’) to successfully complete in-company vocational training in Germany in accordance with the Vocational Training Act (BBiG), Craft Trades Act (HwO), Vocational Training of Ship Mechanics and Obtaining of Ship Mechanic’s Certificate Act (SMAusbV) and the Geriatric Nursing Act (AltPfG). The benefit modules are intended in particular to overcome language barriers and foreseeable difficulties that could impede the recruitment and hiring process in Germany. This also applies to the acceptance of in-company vocational training by young people interested in vocational training in whose home countries this type of vocational training is unknown.
