"VOCATIONAL AND LINGUISTIC TRAINING CENTRE FOR TOURISM ACTIVITIES" (2003) RO/03/B/F/PP-175050

The project pilot RO/03/B/F/PP-1705050 whose promoter is the Faculty of Geography of the University “Babes- Bolyai”, aims at promoting a viable, integrative, short-time, flexible, learner-oriented, practical-bound non-academic training form of vocational training aimed at a fast, comprehensive and effective acquisition of vocational expertise and practical skills in the area of tourism capable of enhancing and facilitating the access of young people to the labour market and their adjustment to it. The trainings, seeks to consistently raise the qualification level of the labour force for the two professional profiles envisaged:

oTourism Agent
oTourism Manager

 

The objectives of the project are

  • to train tourism employees and improve their professional expertise;
  • to offer vocational guidance and counselling to persons interested in taking up careers in the field of tourism;
  • to facilitate the access to domain-specific training sources;
  • to increase the opportunities of young people and adults to find an adequate work place;
  • to improve the standards of theoretical and practical training of tourism employees with a view to raising the quality of tourism products and services

 

Within the framework of vocational and education training (VET) the Leonardo da Vinci project aims to:

  • create modern, internationally acknowledged curricula,
  • recruit and shape up a highly-qualified teaching staff,
  • develop updated tourism-specific courses,
  • adopt a European examination and evaluation system
  • ensure European recognition and validation of the taught/acquired competences

The project ended the 31st of August 2006. The results obtained by the project are:

  • The creation of a Centre for Training Tourism within the Faculty of Geography at the Babes- Bolyai Universityin Cluj- Napoca and the development of the existing centres of the partners. The Centres will host the trainings elaborated on the bases of the labour market needs and on the needs of development of the of local and international tourism;
  • Development of curricula for the two specializations, Tourist Agent and Tourist Manager and the training modules elaborated with skills and competences as requested by the European training standards and on the base of the tourism labour market needs.
  • Adoption of adequate, innovative training methods and technologies based on the practice approach, simulation and wide employ of ICT facilities for the distance learning, self learning and continuing learning.
  • Adoption of evaluation/assessment procedures with the elaboration of a certificate and diploma to be used by the partner centres for the mutual recognition of competences and professional qualification.
  • improved expertise of trainers with the participation to two trainers’ training sessions on the innovative methodologies and subjects to be taught at the centres
  • development of formative materials, such as:
  • printed materials (books, manuals, guide books)
  • WEB materials
  • computer assisted learning (support) materials as future aides to the vocational training of tourism employees
  • Organization of a documentation centre /library with books, manuals, and internet facilities.

 

The results obtained by the project are all product of the transnational collaboration among the project partners and of the collaboration with other training and tourist institutions and local tourist SMEs.
