JOINT ACTION PROGRAMME

TITLE OF THE PRJECT : “EU.FOR.ME”. Formazione turistica per un’utenza ampliata

119645-JA-1-2004-1-IT-JOINTCALL-INDI

Project ‘EU.FOR.ME Tourist training for a wider target’ aims at filling a gap that Schools, Universities and Training Centres offering programmes on Tourism, have in Italy and in many European countries. There are practically no examples that disabilities issues are taken into consideration in the organization of tourism training modules.

Inclusion of people with disabilities is not only a social issue, but, in case of tourism activities, it is also a substantial economic opportunity for mainstreaming tourism operators.

A Panel of young disabled people will follow all Project’s activities, identifying the needs of a person with disabilities when traveling.

Based on the Panel’s conclusions and a training needs’ analysis, a course of Training for Trainers, will be planned. The course will last 200 hours, plus 80 hours of practical activities: the trainees will be divided into 4 groups and will develop 4 Project Works, consisting of experimental training modules. Each Group will be long distance tutored by one European partner. The Project works will be tested directly in the lessons delivered at the Centre of Tourism Studies of Assisi .

The selection of the trainees will encourage and support the candidature of young disabled people.

Foreseen end users:

Young disabled people to become trainers in Tourism for All

Disabled people who will widen opportunities to mobility

Students and graduates from Tourism Institutes as experts in disability travels

The final products will include a full ‘training for trainers’ course and 4 experimental training modules on tourism for people with disabilities, the procedures to be followed to officially recognize this vocational figure in Italy and in Europe, a CD ROM.

All results will be disseminated in two seminars and through the Partners’ and the Project’s
